BAR100 SET TO SHOWCASE SYDNEY’S TOP EMERGING FASHION DESIGNERS AND MUSICIANS


On Thursday April 4, iconic Rocks venue, BAR100 will present Avant Garde Nights, showcasing Sydney's top emerging fashion designers and will also include a performance by beat boxing sensation Genesis (Australia's Got Talent Finalist).

The catwalk show, which starts at 9pm, will feature both female and male models who will showcase brands Love & Anarchy, Fabrique Vintage, Danielle The Dressmaker and Sandra Motallebi.

Avant Garde Nights was founded by Tommy Hong and Sergio Oyola to create meaningful showcases of both established and emerging labels within Sydney intertwined with some of Sydney’s hottest talent and DJs to put on a night, which has substance.

CAVALIA EXTENDS SYDNEY SEASON UNTIL JUNE 2, 2013 DUE TO STRONG TICKET SALES



SYDNEY, NEW SOUTH WALES - (April 2, 2013) – Due to strong ticket sales to Cavalia: A Magical Encounter Between Human and Horse, the producers of the equestrian extravaganza are delighted to announce an additional week of performances in Sydney. The internationally acclaimed theatrical production set to open May 15, 2013, under its signature White Big Top, on The Showring at the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park, will now run until June 2, 2013. Touted by TODAY`s Richard Wilkins as “the most brilliant production imaginable”, Cavalia is currently wowing audiences and critics alike in Brisbane. Starting next month, the second Australian leg for the multi-disciplinary spectacular created by Normand Latourelle - one of the co-founders of Cirque du Soleil – will kick off in the state capital of New South Wales. Following Sydney, the Canadian-based troupe will travel to Melbourne, where opening night is scheduled for August 7, 2013, under the gleaming White Big Top at The Docklands.

Enjoyed by some 3.5 million people across North American and Europe, Cavalia is a lavish production involving 44 magnificent horses and featuring 36 riders, aerialists, acrobats, dancers and musicians from all over the world. Charged with poetry and pure emotion in a dream-like environment, Cavalia celebrates the relationship between humans and horses, virtually reinventing the equestrian arts.

Cavalia has received critical acclaim from around the world, including The New York Times, which noted that the theme of Cavalia is “Celebrating horses, humans and their bond”, while The Washington Post described the show as “Horseplay of the highest order”. TICKETS – For its exclusive season in Sydney, Cavalia will be presented under its signature White Big Top on The Showring at the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park. Tickets are priced from $44.00 to $164.00 + applicable taxes and fees. For guests who desire an extraordinary outing, the show can be customized for an extended experience from $144.00 to $325.00, including a Horse Lovers Package that lets patrons tour Cavalia’s stables after the show, and the VIP Rendez-Vous Package that includes a post-show tour of the stables, a cocktail/dinner reception and much more. Special pricing is also available for children (2-12), juniors (13-17), senior citizens (65+) and for groups.

Art Battles Australia Launches ‘The Quay Series’ For 2013


The hugely anticipated return of Art Battles Australia started last Thursday 28th March at Name This Bar on Oxford Street, and this year they have launched The Quay Series. Art Battles Australia provides an innovative series of events, at a venue for up and coming artists to showcase their talents to the general public and patrons of the bar, along with live entertainment, DJs, and celebrity MCs and judges. An all-new artist line up selected from a pool of the freshest up and coming and established Sydney visual artists will take part in 6 heats, which will be held weekly each Thursday at Name This Bar.

The 6 heats will accumulate in the Grand Final, which will take place on the 4th and 5th of May amongst thousands of locals, national and international tourists at Sydney’s Circular Quay. With the iconic Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge as a backdrop, this 2 day finale will run in conjunction with Tiger Beer’s Translate initiative, a collaboration of music and art. The winner of the Art Battles Quay Series grand final will be flown to Vietnam to represent Australia at Tiger Translate Vietnam as a guest of Tiger Beer Australia.

Art Battles Australia is an initiative that was founded in 2011 at Name This Bar, Oxford Street Sydney. The aim was to provide an innovative event, at a venue for up and coming artists to showcase their talents to the general public and patrons of the bar, along with live entertainment, DJs, and celebrity MCs and judges. The Art Battles concept has not only changed the way that artists display their skills but has also created a new model for exhibitions and sales.

This year Art Battles is even bigger and better with the launch of ‘The Quay Series’. The Art Battles events see up to four artists per heat battle it out on canvases in a 100 minute showdown. Artists create their works using a number of different styles and techniques on canvas from street art to fine art using tools such as brush, marker pens and for the first time spray paint provided by Art Battles partner Liquitex. Liquitex offers the largest array of art materials and has recently launched a range of professional acrylic spray paints which are new to the market. The sprays differ from those currently available due to their low odor, artist grade pigments, water based technology and light-fastness.

Since its beginning, Art battles Australia has gained momentum and credibility amongst spectators and artists, seeing the last series winner Nick Ford taking out the major prize to represent Australia in Dubai amongst artists from across the world.
