Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters 3D movie premiere; Sydney, Australia

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters 3D movie premiere; Sydney, Australia...

Hansel & Gretel enjoyed its Australian red carpet premiere tonight at Event Cinemas, George Street, in front of a news media pack of dozens, hundreds of Australian fans, and dozens of security to help control all of the excitement.

"Hansel & Gretel" is a 3-D action flick that reimagines the fairy tale characters as gun-toting badasses played by Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton.

The $50 million film arrived nearly a year after its originally release date. It's off to a decent start with numbers and buzz, but has attracted quite the mixed popcorn bag of reviews. Most fans have rated it with a CinemaScore of "B". Approval rating is 18%.

Here in Australia Paramount Pictures has got right behind the project, and one would think is hoping that the Australian market will generally be more positive and receptive to the film than its friends in the United States and Europe.

If you are a big Hansel & Gretel fan, you will likely want to see this movie.  If not...

Promo...

After getting a taste for blood as children, Hansel (Jeremy Renner) and Gretel (Gemma Arterton) have become the ultimate vigilantes, hell bent on retribution. Now, unbeknownst to them, Hansel and Gretel have become the hunted, and must face an evil far greater than witches...their past.

TOP ANNOUNCE SIDESHOWS IN SYDNEY AND GOLD COAST

McManus Entertainment is thrilled to announce two sideshows for ZZ Top in March. In addition to shows with Guns N’ Roses, the legendary Texan rockers will play their own shows in Sydney and on the Gold Coast. Joining ZZ Top will be The Dead Daisies, featuring Jon Stevens and guitarist David Lowy. Tickets go on sale on Thursday 31 January.

ZZ Top are genuine roots musicians. Billy F Gibbons is one of America’s finest blues guitarists while Dusty Hill on bass and Frank Beard on drums (ironically the only member without a beard) provide the ultimate rhythm section support.

ZZ Top’s image has been as unchanging and memorable as their music. The respected Texan trio have been together for more than 40 years and were inducted by Keith Richards into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. ZZ Top are a solid touring unit and have performed to millions of fans around the world. The band’s iconography – beards, cars, girls and that magic keychain – transcend all bounds of geography and language. They’ve been referenced in countless cartoons and sitcoms and are true rock icons.

Most famous for their hits Legs, Gimme All Your Lovin’ and Sharp Dressed Man, ZZ Top are sure to thrill their Australian fans with their sturdy American blues and rock style. ZZ Top have sold more than 20 million records worldwide and achieved incredible chart success. Their 1983 album Eliminator was a multi-platinum smash in Australia and is “one of the greatest albums of the ‘80s” according to Rolling Stone magazine.

It’s a remarkable achievement that they’re still very much together after more than 40 years of being on the road and in the studio. ZZ Top released their fifteenth studio album, La Futura, in September 2012. Respected producer Rick Rubin produced their latest album La Futura.

“We’re the same three guys, bashing out the same three chords. The band’s mantra remains the same: Tone. Taste. Tenacity,” says Billy F Gibbons, guitarist extraordinaire.

Joining ZZ Top for these two shows is Australian rock band The Dead Daisies. The Dead Daisies feature Jon Stevens on vocals and David Lowy on guitar. Jon Stevens is one of Australia’s most popular and respected singers. He has had a remarkable career, from lead singer of rock band Noiseworks to successful solo artist. Jon and David first met in 2006 but it wasn’t until 2012 that they started writing songs together. With a mutual love of classic late ‘70s and early ‘80s rock and soul, The Dead Daisies were born. “Bad Company meets Foreigner via The Faces kind of vibe, big choruses, powerful melodies and strong hooks,” says Jon.

Don’t miss ZZ Top bring their unique, blues and rock style to stages in Sydney and the Gold Coast as they headline their own sideshows.

ZZ Top’s latest album La Futura is out now through Universal Music Australia.

DJ Pauly D plays at The Big Top, Luna Park, Sydney, Australia

DJ Pauly D plays at The Big Top, Luna Park, Sydney, Australia...

Last night DJ Pauly D and guests delighted fans at Sydney's Big Top, in the heart of Luna Park, Sydney, Australia.

DJ Pauly D, (Paul DelVecchio) is an American television personality and disc jockey.

Most of the world knows him from being a housemate on MTV's reality TV show Jersey Shore.

Over the past few years, hard working Pauly D has really matured as a DJ and he sure knows how to put on a show and entertain the masses. Various music news outfits event has Pauly D rated in their world's top 10 DJ's, so this largely proves that his substance excels his considerable style. For the past few years he's being playing over 100 gigs per calender year, which explains why he just keeps getting better.

Over 1500 Australian fans attended the concert which was comprised of mainly teenagers (70% girls, 30% guys).  There was even a few 30+ Italian tourists in the crowd, so maybe Pauly D is also contributing to the Australian entertainment tourism dollar.

The guys has loads of charisma and really got into the groove.  Great choice of hot numbers and he made certain to have lots of his good looking girls and guys in the stage backup, to compliment the coolness seen in his reality TV shows.

Most fans were very well behaved, but during the course of the concert there was about 5 incidents of drinks and rubbish being thrown onto the stage, and one young guy hit the fan barricade head first, and we understand he was attended to by medical. It's not like security was lacking, but with a crowd of 1000 + teenagers, some of whom had too much to drink, incidents are going to happen.

Pauly must have played about 100 tracks in his almost 2 hour performance. 'Gangnam Style', 'Most beautiful girl in the world' 'Dynamite' and lots of cool best of electronic dancefloor stuff.

He wore his popular headphones, and his Italian Flag laptop computer artwork is something that needs to be seen to be believed.

"Big Jerry" Gialanella and Gary Beadle was also there, as was Australia's own multi talented entertainment industry star Johnny Ruffo.

This show was excellent value for money and judging by the way things went, expect to see Pauly D and friends back down under in Australia again soon.

Did we mention that over the past few years, Pauly D has pulled in over $11 million dollars, enough to earn him a top 10 place on Forbes’ first-ever top-earning DJs list.

On the music and his sound DJ Pauly D told media:

"If I wanted, I could play a f—ing .wav file and just stand there and fist-bump all night, and no one would give a shit,” also disparaging “button-pushers” while admitting to being one himself. The comments drew the ire of top DJs including members of Scandinavian trio Swedish House Mafia. Pauly D remains steadfast about his credentials.

“I’m definitely not a button pusher,” he says. “I use turntables. Yes, I use [DJ software] Serato on my computer that only holds the music, but I’m still controlled by vinyl, and I’ll never lose that art form. Because that’s what I love the most.”

Make no mistake, substance over loads of style is what this world leading DJ is all about - and having a hell of a good time, with party after party being just part of the core business.

Big congrats and thank you to DJ Pauly D, the promoter and all the team who made the event so awesome.

Russell Crowe replaces Hugh Sheridan as AACTA award host

Russell Crowe has been announced as the new AACTA host after a conflicting LA schedule forced original host Hugh Sheridan to pull out.
The second annual Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards will see Crowe headline an impressive line-up of presenters, including AACTA president Geoffery Rush and AACTA ambassador Cate Blanchett.
The awards, to be held on January 30 at The Star Event Centre, will see more than 1000 Australian film and television performers and practitioners in attendance.
In addition to the AACTA Awards in Sydney, Crowe will also host the AACTA International Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday, which Sheridan will now also attend.
"The Australian Academy is making its mark in the States, and I'm equally as honoured to represent the Australian industry in L.A. as host of AACTA's International Awards, as I am to return home to celebrate the success of my peers at the 2nd AACTA Awards Ceremony in Sydney,” Crowe said.

"The show format for the Ceremony will be entertaining and fast paced, whilst rightfully honouring the fantastic film and television our nation is producing."

CHRIS ISAAK ANNOUNCES AUSTRALIAN “BEYOND THE SUN” TOUR FOR MARCH 2013

McManus Entertainment is thrilled to announce that music’s coolest crooner, Chris Isaak, will be returning to Australia in March with tickets going on sale from 9am on Monday 4th February.

As well as performing at the Blues n Roots Festivals and Bluesfest, Chris Isaak is now confirmed to perform shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Thredbo, Rockhampton, Cairns, Townsville and Caloundra.

Chris Isaak says, “Australian audiences are the best! I think I have a show they are gonna dig! We are playing all the hits and it’s really fun to throw in a whole “show within the show” where we play a bunch of the real early rock n roll hits like “Ring Of Fire” and “Can’t Help Falling In Love”. We roll out an upright piano and a stand up bass and I think it’s the most fun I’ve ever had on stage. I’m looking forward to surfing till soundcheck and playing all night”.

From crooner to retro-rocker to one of music’s most sensitive singer-songwriters, Chris has been making some of the coolest music for the past 25 years. In addition to being a multi-platinum artist, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, acclaimed actor and all-round great guy, Chris is a charismatic showman and entertainer. His live shows are spectacular events that keep his audiences coming back again and again. His stories alone are enough to keep people wanting more! His long-time legendary band, Silvertone, featuring Kenney Dale Johnson on drums, will accompany Chris on his upcoming Australian tour.

Chris Isaak has had an impressive recording career since his 1985 debut Silvertone to last year’s Beyond The Sun, which pays tribute to some of music’s greatest artists including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison. Beyond The Sun debuted at number 3 on the Australia ARIA album chart.

Some of his biggest hits include Wicked Game, Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing, Dancin’, Blue Hotel and Somebody’s Crying.

Chris Isaak will be joined by special guest Jon Stevens at all the shows (except Melbourne).   Kasey Chambers will join Chris for the Melbourne show at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

All tickets go on sale from 9am on Monday 4th February 2013 from the below outlets

New album Beyond The Sun is available to buy or download at www.getmusic.com/chrisisaak or at all good music retail stores now
