Happy Feet Two Australian Premiere With Robin Williams And George Miller At Entertainment Quarter In Sydney

Robbin Williams

The Happy Feet Two Australian premiere took place at Moore Park, Fox Studios this afternoon, and it was happy feet galore as celebs did the white carpet, with snowflakes flying around all of us.

Sydney has gone head over heels for Mumbles, Erik and Lovelace, and they would just love to see you and your family see their film when it opens in Australia on 15th December.

Even the Sydney weather got in the mood for the movie with a bit of an Arctic chill in the air.

The sequel to the animated smash-hit Happy Feet reunites the Academy Award winners to the magnificent and super cool landscape of Antarctica, this time in 3D.

Mumble’s tiny son Erik is choreo-phobic. Reluctant to dance, Erik and his friends run away where they soon meet The Mighty Sven – a penguin who can fly! Mumble has no hope of competing with this charismatic new role model but things are about to get worse when the world is shaken by powerful forces. Erik soon learns of his father’s guts and grit as Mumble brings together the penguin nations and all manner of fabulous creatures – from tiny Krill to giant Elephant Seals – to put things right.

Mumble's son, Erik, is battling to realize his talents in the Emperor Penguin world. Meanwhile, Mumble and his family and friends discover a new threat their home - one that will take everyone working together to save them.

Other than Robin Williams the film also features the voices of Elijah Wood, Hank Azaria, Alecia Moore (P!nk), Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Sofia Vergara, Common, Hugo Weaving, Richard Carter, Magda Szubanski, Anthony LaPaglia and Benjamin “Lil P-Nut” Flores Jr. We think Williams genius saves this film from being pretty average - keeping in mind we know how awesome Williams and Miller can be when they are at their best.

Robin Williams told Music News Australia on the difference between voice acting and traditional acting: "It feels free". On feelings about media and the style of movie "Well, it's very different from One Hour Photo", which got a great reaction from the press pack - especially the snappers.

Australian producer, director and writer George Miller said of the film when asked about creative and financial success: "It was so rewarding. The film should do really well and its in 3D this time also". When complimented on his one of one interviews with today's press and asked about if he would even be open to a Foxtel - StudioTV 'Dinner With Five' concept where producers, directors and actors all sit down for dinner and discuss the business, taped for television he said "I haven't actually seen that but it sounds interesting". Further quizzed Miller said: "I guess I would be open to that".

Miller said getting so many big names on board was "a great privilege and very humbling".

The Mad Max director said he already had the story for Happy Feet Two in his mind before they had finished the first one and it was an easy decision to jump straight into the sequel.

"When you work on a film like Happy Feet, the characters become part of you, they're like imaginary friends in your head, they're like family," he said.

"And it's such a rich world to work in, it was very, very easy to get into it."

The buzz and excitement for Williams was so much today that almost a dozen TV media asked Williams for autographs, and he happily obliged, so we joined in the fun two. Yes, media are also fans (not just critics).

Some of the best reviews like the one done by Richard Corliss reads"....Miller is not content to duplicate the pleasures of his first penguin film; he dares to go bigger, deeper, higher — happier."

Don't forget it's 3D, so if you have a foot fetish or whatever, you're in for a wonderful treat. Love the close ups of beaks too.

Round up the kids of all ages and step on down to Happy Feet Two. 4.5 out of of 5 paws (because we're huge Robin Williams and George Miller fans). Well organised from our friends at Village Roadshow too.

Director: George Miller
Writers: George Miller, Gary Eck,
Stars: Elijah Wood, Robin Williams and Pink

Release dates November 18, 2011 (United States)

Eminem Rocks And Raps Sydney Australia

Eminem performed at he Sydney Football Stadium last night for the second show of his 2011 Australian tour. He's just off snatching rave reviews of his show in Melbourne on Friday.

Performing medleys of all his hit songs, opening up on his demons in the past, and giving it his all, the crowd was into it in a big way.

As a lead in to his hit 'I’m Not Afraid' Eminem' told the audience: This next song man, I want to dedicate to any body who has ever been in a dark place or through some kind of struggle. Also to my fans in here tonight man…I just want to say thank you because I couldn’t have got through my dark place and my struggle without you.

"Can I take you back to when I got fucked up" Eminem asked the audience before swinging into My Name Is.

Eminem is even bigger these days, off the drugs and performing with a big live band.

Eminem is booked into play one more show in Sydney on Sunday December 4th.

Louis Vuitton New Sydney Store VIP Party, by Eva Rinaldi

Early today luxury brand Louis Vuitton opened a new store (Louis Vuitton George Street Maison) in Sydney, Australia, and this was followed up this evening with a VIP party with a healthy amount of celebrities and other VIP's on hand, along with about 30 media personnel covering the black carpet outside the building.

The Louis Vuitton George Street Maison, understood to have cost in the region of $10 million, will deliver three-storeys of men's and women's fashion, plus "personalised services".

The iconic French fashion brand enjoyed its VIP opening in Sydney earlier today with Australian actress Cate Blanchett getting a bit of media rub off from the event today.

Tonight many more celebs were present with the list including Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones guitarist), Melissa Doyle, Miranda Kerr, Erika Heynatz, Delta Goodrem, Isabel Lucas, Megan Gale, Laura Bingle, Heidi Middleton, Kerri-Anne Kennerley and Samantha Harris.

Company CEO Yves Carcelle was on hand at both events, and was Oceania CEO Philip Corne.

Mr Corne advised the new development had been a long time coming for the brand, which now has 10 stores across the nation.

"We wouldn't commit to the investment until we found the right space that allowed us to present the brand as we should," he said.

Corne understands that his brand is high end luxury and not for everyone: "People have worked hard and are rewarding themselves."

As Time magazine once said, it was the French who "practically invented the notion of luxury in the 17th century, and in the 18th century, when Marie Antoinette took up residence in Versailles, and added her own twist to the genre". After conducting a survey on global luxury, the magazine concluded Europeans regard "luxury as a means of expressing their individuality and style while placing high authenticity and pedigree".

In Sydney apparently there is a group of cashed up consumers who don't mind spending up on luxury goods.

A big congratulations to top brass Yves Carcelle, Philip Corne, Jean-Baptiste Debains and their team for putting on a great day and evening event.

Louis Vuitton cool and hip tips: we understand that the company sometimes creates very limited amounts of personalised goods. How about a guitar case for Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, a surfboard and surfboard cover (what pro would actually use that) and even a skate-board and cover (good luck with Maroubra Beach Skatepark local boys). When LV talks "personalised services" and "personalised products", they aren't kidding.

Louis Vuitton Opens New Sydney Store; New Bags, Kangaroo Creative and Top Brass, by Eva Rinaldi

Philip Corne, Cate Blanchett,   Yves Carcelle, Jean-Baptiste Debains
Today luxury brand Louis Vuitton opened a new store (Louis Vuitton George Street Maison) in Sydney, Australia.

We've been tipped that Gucci is also planning to open a megastore in Sydney's CBD. This follows a trend of high end fashion labels looking to hold parties in 'Sin City' Sydney including Mulberry, and you have Chanel and Prada tipped to soon open new luxury stores.

Apparently some Sydneysiders still have some loose change to spend on luxury goods (or at least that's what the band bean-counters and marketers are banking on).

The Louis Vuitton George Street Maison, understood to have cost in the region of $10 million, will deliver three-storeys of men's and women's fashion, plus "personalised services".

The iconic French fashion brand enjoyed its VIP opening in Sydney and of course there's a couple of celebs to be spotted, with Australian actress Cate Blanchett (carbon campaigning to fashion is quite diverse) getting a bit of media rub off from the event today. It's also strongly rumoured that there will be a party at the premises tonight. No, Angelina Jolie, who has associated with the brand, will not be there, but some Aussie celebrities sure will be. Company CEO Yves Carcelle was at today's launch and is expected to also show tonight.

Louis Vuitton Oceania CEO Philip Corne advised the new development had been a long time coming for the brand, which now has 10 stores across the nation.

"We wouldn't commit to the investment until we found the right space that allowed us to present the brand as we should," he said.

Not to be upstaged (too much) this coming Wednesday Gucci will also celebrate its latest store opening at Westfield Sydney, the city's mega retail development in the Pitt St Mall, which also houses the luxury labels Mulberry, Christian Louboutin, Bottega Veneta and a Chanel boutique, while its Castlereagh St show-piece undergoes a $4 million refurbishment.

Elton John Heads World Aids Day; Substance, Style And Passion At Circular Quay, Sydney

Musical genius Elton John appeared at an intimate gathering tonight made up of supporters in the fight against AIDS at Sydney's Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay, Sydney.

It's all part of World AIDS Day, and John's appearance no doubt helped draw the right news media, Sydney business elite and humanitarians to the venue on little over 24 hours notice from what we understand.

The artist is fresh off two appearances at The Star (ex Star City Casino) The Lyric which was on the 26th and 27th October.

Tonight it was a case of style, substance and passion (including some well placed passionate cuss words from Mr John) over style (not that there wasn't style in the room - there sure was), but everyone knew that real action was required. John is actually the head fundraiser of his own Elton John Foundation. There was no real publicity stunt (unless you wanted to include John's passionate and well placed colourful cussing which helped emphasise importance and realness of the issues).

John commended Australia on not letting AIDS become a political scoring match, but something that brought everyone together. He said he believed some stigma still existed with the topic of AIDS, but that people knew it was "not just a faggots disease anymore."

VIP's took to the stage to back up John's quest included Hon Anthony Albanese MP Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Hon Jillian Skinner MP NSW Minister for Health and Minister for Medical Research and Bill Bowtell Executive Director: Pacific Friends of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

To close off the event John cut the ribbon and the Sydney Opera House lit up in beautiful red to commemorate World Aids Day. An impressive fireworks display alongside our Opera House followed, and the VIP's kindly made themselves available to photographers and other media.

Public thanks to Elton John, Nick (media) and Will (for the wonderful red ribbons).

A big congrats to John and his team for their ongoing great work in their quest to find a cure to AIDS and other serious social challenges.
