MUTEMATH RETURN TO AUSTRALIA 2013

“MUTEMATH is one of the most exciting bands I've seen.” Bernard Zuel – Sydney Morning Herald

Principal Entertainment are proud to present the triumphant return of genre defying New Orleans band Mutemath.

After slaying Australian audiences and critics alike earlier in the year Mutemath are heading back to Australia in 2013 to road test songs for their next album and continue the love affair that has developed between this amazing band and the country.

During their string of sold out shows across the nation Mutemath stunned all with their amazing artistry and incendiary live performances delivering songs from their acclaimed 3rd studio album Odd Soul. On their return to what has rapidly become one the band's favourite countries to tour Mutemath will thrill fans with a preview of what is destined to be one of the most hotly anticipated releases of 2013.

Since 2006 and across three studio releases including their most recent 2011's Odd Soul, Mutemath have resisted the temptations of musical conformity and have forged their own adventurous brand of highly innovative and fearless rock music. Featuring Paul Meany (vocals/keyboards), Roy Mitchell-Cardenas (bass/guitar) Darren King (drums) and Todd Gummerman (guitar) Mutemath have forged a music model that is both thrilling and without compare, the most exciting part is that it has really only just begun.

REBEL WILSON returns to Australia for the release of PITCH PERFECT

She has taken Hollywood by storm with her hilarious comedic touch, and now Rebel Wilson is returning home to Sydney at the end of the month to celebrate the release of her new comedy PITCH PERFECT.

Bursting with laughs and music mash-ups, PITCH PERFECT also stars Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow and Elizabeth Banks in a story about an all-female singing group competing in the cutthroat world of college a cappella.  However, it is Rebel’s scene-stealing performance as ‘Fat Amy’ which has garnered her plenty of new fans including the likes of Lady Gaga and Perez Hilton.

Born and raised in western Sydney, Rebel’s upcoming visit will include publicity interviews for PITCH PERFECT on Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th November in Sydney.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
ABOUT PITCH PERFECT
Beca (Anna Kendrick) is that girl who’d rather listen to what’s coming out of her headphones than what’s coming out of you.  Arriving at her new college, she finds herself not right for any clique but somehow is muscled into one that she never would have picked on her own: alongside mean girls, sweet girls and weird girls whose only thing in common is how good they sound when they sing together. When Beca takes this acoustic singing group out of their world of traditional arrangements and perfect harmonies into all-new mash-ups, they become major contenders to top the competitive world of college a cappella.

Mike Tyson: Day Of The Champions - Main Event Mike KO in Sydney, Australia...

Mike Tyson: Day Of The Champions - Main Event Mike KO in Sydney, Australia...

Boxing legend and ex con, Mike Tyson, has been trying to get to Australia for years.

Recently Australian promoter Max Markson of Markson Sparks! helped 'The Baddest Man On The Planet' make it down under to Australia for what else - another pay day, and to Tyson's credit, he has turned his life around... gone are the drugs and the ho's, with Mike all family man and entertainer with his new lease on life.

Mike still is no angel, based on his badass public speaking and use of colourful language, but when you look into his heart and eyes you can see that he's cleaned up his act. He even told a women in the audience when quizzed about where he was staying in Sydney that he was staying in his own bed, doing nappies, and that's his only party...publicly showing that any womanising days are a thing of the past.

The Mike Tyson documentary - video package that showed before his talk was pretty interesting and entertaining, and showed footage from teen years to recent, and included the good, the bad and the ugly.

What's next for Tyson? More movies, more public speaking and more pay days. Sure beats getting punched in the head and guts for a living. Good on you Mike for making positive changes to your life and wishing you continued success and happiness.

Words of wisdom from Mike Tyson...

"The message of my show would be no matter what adversity hits you in life, don't give up - that's the only time you will lose," he said.

"Someone can be a champion and never have a title."

"We all have to endure some kind of pain," Tyson said.

"I like Evander. Evander's going to be all right.

"It's all about embracing yourself and looking for happiness through that.

"I learned that lesson. If I can make it in what has been a pretty interesting life he can do it as well."

Extreme With Special Guest Richie Kotzen Australian Tour 2013

Lennard Promotions are thrilled to present 90's rock giants Extreme along with very special guest guitar virtuoso Richie Kotzen live in Australia in 2013.

Extreme won a legion of fans during the 80's and 90's selling over 10 million records including their global smash hit More Than Words. Known for their heavy hitting musical ability and featuring the blazing guitar work of Nuno Bettencourt, Extreme exercised restraint rather than indulgence producing amazing music that not only showcased the band's proficiency but also their collective mastery of hook laden rock.   Richie Kotzen is a renowned guitar prodigy in his own right texturing both his own acclaimed releases and those from a string of notable acts including Poison and Mr Big with stunning guitar lines and breathtaking musical dexterity.  Teaming up for what is sure to be a highlight on the 2013 touring calendar Extreme and very special guest Richie Kotzen will thrill Australian music lovers and galvanise guitar tragics alike.

It all started when four Boston-bred kids joined forces in the late 80s to form Extreme. With an original new sound and ground-breaking records, the foursome was immediately recognised as innovators in the world of rock & roll. The band has described their music as "Funky Metal" in the early days, but it would evolve much more in the mid-90s by blending classic rock influences with post-grunge and alternative rock.  The band's popularity was fuelled by guitar virtuoso Nuno Bettencourt’s signature style, Gary Cherone’s resonant vocals and socially conscious lyrics, Pat Badger’s rock solid bass, and the hard hitting Kevin Figueiredo on drums.

The band's self-titled debut was released in 1989 to some acclaim, thought it was their 1990 album Pornograffitti that captured worldwide attention.  Peaking at number 10 on the Billboard 200, Pornograffitti was certified multi-platinum and featured Bettencourt's blistering guitar work which brought widespread admiration from rock guitar enthusiasts and continual exposure in leading guitar playing publications. It was however the acoustic ballad More Than Words, that captured imaginations and reached #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 in the United States landing Extreme their first #1 hit song.

Since the worldwide smash that was Pornograffitti Extreme have released three further albums including Saudades de Rock in 2008 and endured various periods of hiatus with members exploring side projects including Gary Cherone's stint as vocalist in Van Halen before reforming permanently in 2007.  Showcasing material from their most recent album and classics from all their previous discs, the members of Extreme are always thrilled to be heading out on the road.  “As much as we enjoy recording, for me, I’ve always loved playing live for the fans,” Cherone says. “We can’t wait to get out there and play this music live.”

Fender-wielding Los Angeles-based guitar hero Richie Kotzen is frequently touted in the international guitar press as one of the world’s best guitarists, with a 50-album discography to back it up. Born in 1970 in Reading. Pa., Kotzen Kotzen moved to San Francisco at age 18, recording his first album at age 19 for metal mainstay label Shrapnel Records. Guitar World magazine readers proclaimed him one of the top three best new guitarists of 1989.

Kotzen’s big break came in 1991 when, at age 21, he joined multi-platinum glam rockers Poison, with whom he recorded 1993’s Native Tongue. The platinum album spawned two top-twenty singles written by Kotzen, “Stand” and “Until You Suffer Some (Fire & Ice).” Post-Poison, Kotzen recorded albums on Geffen, Shrapnel and JVC until 1999, when legendary jazz bassist Stanley Clarke and drummer Lenny White invited him to form Vertu, which recorded an eponymous album that year and toured Europe extensively. Later in 1999, Kotzen joined hugely popular rock band Mr Big, recording Get Over It (1999) and Actual Size (2001) and penning his first number-one single in Japan, “Shine.”

Kotzen is one of the few artists to have two signature model Fender guitars in Japan; a Telecaster and a Stratocaster bearing his name have each been top sellers in Japan since they were introduced in 1995. Richie Kotzen's latest release is titled '24 Hours'

Georgia May Jagger in Sydney, Australia; Sunglass Hut floats on water

Georgia May Jagger in Sydney, Australia; Sunglass Hut floats on Sydney Harbour with celebrities and product pitch...

Sunglass hut... the sunglasses retail company is back to publicity tricks using the good old fashioned celebrity sells... in this case with Mick Jagger's daughter, Georgia May Jagger, and friends, aboard a floating product promotional boat on Sydney Harbour. Not a bad combo and it achieved the goal - free headlines.

Looking at Georgia May Jagger, it’s impossible to miss the shades on her famous parents. Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall. Some press is saying she’s the very best blend of her parents’ charisma and good looks. Ah, the benefits of being a famous offspring... and good work opportunities often come your way including product promotions.

In Australia on a promotional tour with Sunglass Hut, she stars in their current advertising campaign with boyfriend musician and model, Josh McClennan. She told Fairfax Media "We’d never worked together before – so it was an interesting experience. Kind of a laugh seeing your boyfriend posing – we had a lot of fun", she said. Guest stars at tonight’s A-list party aboard the Sunglass Hut floating store, they are checking out the sights of Sydney "We’re climbing the Harbour Bridge today, we’ve seen sharks at the aquarium and we’re in love with Bondi Beach".

Georgia is a hot, smart and music appreciating Brit. "There was always music in the house growing up – I love all kinds from blues through to rock 'n' roll. I tried the violin and guitar when I was young, but never really learned to play…and my Mum doesn’t play anything either."

Georgia May is familiar with the modeling and advertising world with cosmetic contracts, major advertising campaigns and her fair share of magazine covers including UK Vogue, UK Elle and this month’s Australian Harper's Bazaar. Yes, we know its got something to do with her famous parents, but good luck to her. That's the world and that's the business. "I’m really trying to have fun with it [modeling]. Obviously, I enjoy the travelling and getting to meet people from all over the world. It’s wild to be working in London one day and then in Australia the next – I just want to keep doing it for as long as I can".

After modeling, she hopes to move into a career in photography. She mentions her mum's Helmut Newtown pictures as inspiration. "I was at university before my career took off and my plan is to be a photographer – my dream would be to travel and take pictures" she said.

Moving like Jagger in the Sunglass Hut campaign.

When it comes to style, the model is a fan of Vivienne Westwood – she’s the face of the new Westwood jewellery line – and has a try-anything-once approach to fashion. "I pick up style from everywhere I go, I like to mix it up. I‘ve got some incredible vintage pieces from my mother’s wardrobe - amazing dresses from her Studio 54 days”.

And what about her father’s closet – has she managed to get her hands on any of Dad’s iconic threads? “My sister [Lizzie] has a lot because she’s got the tall skinny figure. I do have one thing of my Dad’s that he doesn’t know I’ve got it and if he did he’d want it back immediately…for a museum".

Sunglass Hut floating store is moored in Darling Harbour, Sydney from November 15 - 18. 10 per cent of all profits from the Floating Store will be donated to OneSight, a leading global vision care charity.

CELEBRATING THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF ROCKET MAN - ELTON JOHN RETURNS TO AUSTRALIA -

Forty years ago, during April 1972, Elton John's single Rocket Man (I Think It's Going To Be A Long Long Time) was released around the world.  To celebrate the landmark 40 year anniversary of its release, Sir Elton John has been taking the celebrations globally for a world tour and will be returning to our shores for his record 42nd Sydney Entertainment Centre show plus a very special run of shows, some in parts of Australia he’s never been.

To kick things off, Elton John will perform during the opening week of the brand new Perth Arena on Monday 12th November.  Following on from Perth, the tour then heads to our nation’s capital, Canberra for a show at Canberra Stadium on Wednesday 14th November, before finishing things up at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on Thursday 15th November – taking his record number of shows at the iconic Sydney venue to a staggering 42.

Performing with a full band, Elton’s shows will commemorate the 40 years since the release of Rocket Man as well as being a celebration of Elton’s greatest hits.  Fans can expect to see this timeless entertainer take them on a journey thru his multi-decade career, backed by his ever-dynamic touring band.

The single, Rocket Man, was a global success, breaking records in multiple territories around the world and achieving the highest chart positions ever held at that point by any Elton John single.

More than just a charting success, Rocket Man held esteemed critical acclaim across the globe garnering reviews following the 1972 release such as this from UK music bible, Disc magazine; “This is by far the best thing Elton John has ever done - it's quite superb...this band is great, the song is great, Bernie Taupin's lyrics are great and if the Honky Chateau LP is going to be like this you're going to have to listen to it in little doses or you'll go mad. After two hearings I was so busy singing along that I couldn't get myself organised into taking notes about the structure of the record. Consumer, not critic, that's me, and I can consume music like this for evermore.”

Beyond these many accolades, Rocket Man also held with it a cultural and historical significance that remains unrivalled by any other song.  Elton's American record company connected the release of Rocket Man to the launch of Apollo 16, and took out press advertisements saying 'On the morning of April 16, 1972, Apollo 16 was launched into orbit on a journey to the moon. A few mornings earlier Uni Records launched a new Elton John single into a world-wide orbit. WHAT A TRIP! Both launchings bound to set new records.'

On 28 April 1972 Elton and the band played a concert at Hofheinz Pavilion, University of Houston, Texas, the second date of their 1972 American tour.  Ahead of the show, the Rocket Man met the 'Rocket men' at the Manned Space Centre in Houston, Texas, where Al Worden, Apollo 15 command module pilot, took Elton, Dee Murray, Nigel Olsson and Davey Johnstone on a conducted tour of the NASA headquarters.

In April of this year, Elton was told that European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut André Kuipers had made a special point of playing Rocket Man over the airwaves of the International Space Station (ISS) on the song's fortieth anniversary.  André said,  "This song has been an inspiration to many people who are interested in space, and especially those who wanted to become astronauts, including myself. It is certainly one of the most played songs here on the ISS, and we know it will accompany more astronauts into space in the future."

Be sure to join in the celebration of this landmark anniversary.

ELTON JOHN AIDS FOUNDATION

Since the mid-1980's, Elton John has channeled the grief over the loss of many dear friends to HIV/AIDS into various efforts to help raise money for charitable organizations supporting AIDS research and providing vital services to people with HIV/AIDS. In 1992, frustrated and angered by the growing magnitude of the epidemic and how comparatively little was being done to help those affected by the virus, he decided to bring focus to all of his AIDS-related work by establishing the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) in the United States (EJAF-US, registered in New York). The following year, he also established this foundation in the United Kingdom (EJAF-UK, registered in London).

Today, EJAF is one of the world's leading nonprofit HIV/AIDS organizations supporting innovative HIV prevention programs, efforts to eliminate stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS, and direct care and support services for people living with HIV/AIDS. Together, both entities have raised over $150 million to support such programs in 55 countries around the globe since inception. EJAF supports its work through proceeds from concerts, arts-related exhibitions, and special events; cause-related marketing projects and licensed merchandising; and voluntary contributions (large and small) from individuals, corporations, and foundations.

EJAF-US's grant-making supports programs in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, and Latin America. EJAF-UK focuses its grant making on projects in Africa, Asia, and Europe.

Without question, EJAF's greatest asset and strength is its Founder and Chairman, Sir Elton John. No mere figurehead, Sir Elton serves as EJAF's chief fund-raiser - conducting benefit concerts, meeting with major donors, foundations and corporations, and participating in numerous public events. Also, as a highly visible and outspoken advocate, he has testified before Congress, spoken at press conferences, writes editorials and delivers speeches at events and awards ceremonies. His status as an entertainment icon and his many years as a dedicated AIDS activist and philanthropist bring tremendous visibility and credibility to EJAF's work.

For information on grant-making and fund-raising activities conducted by EJAF-US, please visit www.ejaf.org. For information on grant-making and fund-raising conducted by EJAF-UK, please visit www.ejaf.com.
