Australian artist Gotye’s hotly anticipated performance on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE will be premiering exclusively on FOXTEL this Saturday night, June 9 at 10.30pm on THE COMEDY CHANNEL.
MEN IN BLACK III star, Josh Brolin is the special guest host for the side-splitting episode during which Gotye himself features in a skit where show regular’s Andy Samberg and Taran Killam hilariously recreate his phenomenally popular video for “Somebody That I Used To Know” (clip attached).
Gotye is joined on-stage by successful kiwi singer Kimbra for her part of the striking song – a debut performance for both artists on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE in front of a live audience. Gotye also performs his hit “Eyes Wide Open”.
“Somebody That I Used To Know” has struck a chord with listeners across the globe. The single has been number one in 18 countries and the number one iTunes single in 41 countries, nearing 10 million sales since its release. It was the first single in American history to top five Billboard charts in the same week, and is also the biggest song of 2012 in the UK.
Locally Gotye has won six ARIA Awards including Single of the Year and Best Male Artist. Rolling Stone Australia named him Artist Of The Year and Best Male Artist in 2011. Last week at the 2012 APRA Awards, Gotye walked away with three of the awards for Song Of The Year and Most Played Australian Work for ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’, as well as Songwriter Of The Year.
The album “Making Mirrors” has been Top 10 in 17 countries and the number one iTunes album in 11 countries with over 1.5 million sales globally, also winning “Triple J Album of The Year” in 2011.
