Shock Records announce the release of Delta Spirit's Highly acclaimed self-titled third album.

When it came time to record Delta Spirit’s third album, the band members knew one thing: It was time to shake off the stylistic labels that have shadowed them since they formed in San Diego, CA, in 2005. Though lyricists Matt Vasquez and Kelly Winrich were grateful for the warm reviews that their previous albums Ode To Sunshine (2008) and History From Below (2010) received, they were perplexed at being called “rootsy Americana” or “twangy folk.” In their eyes, Delta Spirit has always been a thoroughly modern rock band, and, with their self-titled new album, they set out to prove it.

“We found the sound that we've been looking for, that we've been growing into, and as soon as we hit on it, we ran with it,” Vasquez says. “That’s why it’s a self-titled record, so we could connect our identity with the album, because this album is what we think Delta Spirit is. People make records for their time and we wanted to make one for our time. Just like novelists want to write the Great American Novel, we wanted to make a Great American Record. Not one about yesterday, but one about right now.”

To help them realize their vision, the band recruited producer Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, Beach House, and Smith Westerns, among others), and recorded the album at Dreamland – a converted church built in 1896 in Woodstock, New York. Delta Spirit has captured the sound of a band who have truly come into their own.

'The band's smarts and muscle come together with a resounding whomp.

REDD INC. AND RED DOGS AT DUNGOG FILM FESTIVAL

Only one week to go until the 'Sundance of Australia' and 2011 IF Award winning film festival, the Dungog Film Festival, will showcase the great Australian film industry in the picturesque Hunter Valley town of Dungog from the 29 June - 1 July.

Just announced is the screening of REDD INC. A film by director Daniel Krige (West, Twisted Tales) and starring Nicholas Hope (Bad Boy Bubby), Kelly Paterniti (Packed to the Rafters), Sam Reid (The Jesters) and Alan Dukes (Beneath Hill 60).  Following on from CRAWL on Saturday night, REDD INC. will be the second part of our Fright Night. In the spirit of SAW and HOSTEL, REDD INC. will test audience's mettle as six office workers are chained to their desks by their demented 'regional manager'.
They will need to work hard to prove their worth and escape punishment.
Director Daniel Krige, writer Anthony O'Connor and producer Jonathon Green will be guests at the festival.

On Saturday 30 June the people of Dungog will take to the streets with the annual street parade, this year themed after last year's blockbuster movie RED DOG. Residents are invited to join the parade with their own red dog or other pet pooch where the apparently incorruptible local celebrity resident Roy Bean will be judging for Best Red Dog and Best Dog, in the sub category 'A Class of their Own'.

In addition to the canine contingent there will be 100 members of the local police force marching to celebrate 150 years of the NSW State Police Force, the oldest police force in Australia, the 50 members of the Singleton Town Band, marching children, floats, decorated push bikes and the greatest representation of Ukulele's ever seen in Dungog. Not to be missed!!

The full Dungog program is available at www.dff.org.au.

Make sure you don't miss one of the biggest celebrations of Australian film, book your tickets and accommodation now for the festival weekend from 29 June to 1 July.

Belongil Fields, Byron Bay, ,
Date: Friday, July 27, 2012 to Sunday, July 29, 2012
In a move that is sure to thrill punters, Splendour in the Grass has announced that it will return to where it all started this year - Belongil Fields in Byron Bay. After spending the last few years at Woodfordia in Queensland (home to the Woodford Folk Festival) as organisers battled with Byron Bay local council to move to North Byron Parklands, the festival has managed a minor win by receiving approval to move back to its original venue as festival's application is still considered.

Splendour in the Grass is one of Australia's most popular music festivals, often selling out minutes after tickets go on sale. Launched in 2001, the three-day camping festival has welcomed some of the world's most popular bands to serenade fans, including Coldplay, Kanye West, PJ Harvey, Moby, Jurassic 5, Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, Powderfinger, Devo, Sigur Ros, PNAU, Placebo, Goldfrapp and The Flaming Lips among hundreds of others.

This year's festival is almost certain to sell out as punters flock to the festival's original location to see one of the event's most lucrative lineups yet. Bands performing at Splendour in the Grass 2012 include Jack White, Bloc Party, Smashing Pumpkins, At the Drive-In, The Shins, Hilltop Hoods, The Kooks, Gossip, Miike Snow, Dirty Three, Lana Del Rey, 360, Azealia Banks, Tame Impala, Explosions in the Sky, Band of Skulls, Ladyhawke, The Afghan Whigs, Missy Higgins, Wolfmother, Metric, Kimbra, Mudhoney, Spiderbait, Angus Stone, Gypsy and the Cat, San Cisco and more.
